All the wood is sourced from FSC approved and certified suppliers. FSC helps take care of forests and the people and wildlife who call them home and is recognised by WWF as the “hallmark of responsible forest management”. FSC is the only wood certification scheme endorsed by the major environmental charities, including WWF, Greenpeace and The Woodland Trust.

No, all the designs have been created to do away with harmful glues, screws or nails to assemble each part together, we could have used non toxic glues, but not having them at all is even better. What this means it’s better and safer for your pet, as there is no chance they will encounter any sharp objects. You can then also easily take apart for cleaning and changing the layout whenever a change is required.

All the products are fitted together via a tab and slot system, and are held together by friction of each tab on the mating part. So no glue, nails or screws are required, and there is no risk from sharp objects or toxic glues. We could have fixed with non toxic glues but by doing things this way, it means that you are able to take your product easily to clean, as well as being able to quickly change the layout, if you or your pet needs a change.

With all items, disassemble in reverse to the assembly sequence. Then simply use a diluted vinegar water solution of 1 part white vinegar to 1 part warm water, preferably in a spray type bottle. Spray on each panel and wipe clean. Reassemble as required.

You can clean it in exactly the same way as described above but it can remain assembled. If you want to give a thorough clean then you will need to take apart by using a Stanley type knife or box cutter and run along each internal edge until you are able to get the wood panels apart. Carefully peal the silicone away or if proving stubborn look to use a razor blade scraper to carefully remove the remainder. Be careful not to dig into the wood which would create splinters and an uneven surface.

All items are manufactured in the UK by ourselves from scratch. Nothing is outsourced and nothing is bought in from overseas. We make everything to order so does need a little time for us to complete each order as every item is hand finished ready for shipping.

It is fine to use a sandbox without silicone to seal the internal corners, however as the design of our products allows for slight gaps in the assembly slots, this means some sand can escape into the enclosure. Depending on how you feel about this, then the option is there to allow you to use with or without silicone to seal the product.

You should only use animal safe sand for hamsters, chinchilla dust is not suitable as this is as it's name suggests very dusty and can cause respiratory issues. The easiest place to start would be to look at children's play sand, which as well as being safe for children as it's non-toxic, is also safe for pets. This can come a little damp when first unpackaged, however if placed in the oven in a suitable oven proof dish, at 100ºC for about 20 mins, this should help to remove the moisture. This method is also useful for sanitising the sand when cleaning out or reusing for other hamsters too. There are other alternatives too, such as most reptile sands, but specifically Komodo, Reptisand & Pets at Home Desert among others of course.

Yes, but please use pet safe products, we recommend something like Plastikote clear enamel paint for varnishing Plastikote B26W 59 ml Enamel Paint Bottle - Clear https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00NVL1PEU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_6uwlFbK2JJDK4 or for coloured paints, again Plastikote enamel paints are ideal. It means we source all our wood from FSC suppliers, don’t use any glues or nails to assemble our products. Use minimal biodegradable packaging which means more items can be transported too, giving the lowest carbon footprint we can manage. If you see anything we can do better then we would be very interested to hear from you.

As all our items are flat packed, this significantly reduces the amount of packaging required in comparison to many of our competitors. On top of this we use completely recyclable and biodegradable packaging, using cardboard, twine, biodegradable bubble wrap and paper packaging tapes. We are however, always looking for better ways to pack items so any suggestions are very welcome.

Absolutely, drop us an email and we can start the ball rolling, if you have any sketches, drawings or photos to helps us with what you are after then send those across too. Once we have these we can arrange to send across some completed images and drawings for your approval. Once your happy, we can look to get your design manufactured and dispatched as soon as possible.
